About the author

Hovhannes Yeranyan is an Armenian prose writer, journalist, television presenter, and screenwriter. He studied directing at the Etchmiadzin club-library technical school, then graduated from the theater studies department of the Yerevan State Institute of Fine Arts and Theatre.

The result of his creative work is 11 prose collections and novels, including “The Only Footprint,” “Ceasefire,” “Census,” “The Most Beautiful Strike,” “Mercy for Frosya,” “Other Footprints,” “The Rope of Sin,” “Deadly Tour,” “Angels of the Apocalypse,” “Archi,” and “The Potter’s Second Apprentice.” Yeranyan’s latest book is the fairy-tale novella “Rapper, Pianist and Footballer.”

His works have been translated into French, German, English, Spanish, Russian, Romanian, Persian, Georgian, Arabic, and other languages. The play “The Blind” was published as a separate book in Persian and staged in a Persian theater; in 2016, based on stories published in Spanish in Argentina, the performance “I Have a Century to Wait” was staged at the Ardarutyun Theater in Buenos Aires.

Yeranyan’s latest novel, “Archi,” has also been translated and published in Persian.

He has also made around 200 documentary films and programmes about Armenian culture and literature, and written numerous theatre and literary studies articles and reviews for the Armenian press.

Since 1990, he has worked in print media and television, including Tsir Katin, Hayastani Hanrapetutyun, Yerkir, Armion, Public Television of Armenia, AR, Yerevan Today, and Shoghakat.
